Education Day 1 – Upstate

February 27, 2018

Thank you to attendees and sponsors of ED1 Upstate!

Here is a brief summary and some pictures from the first of the CEU series in 2018

“With almost 40 attendees from both North and South Carolina, our first one-day education day was a tremendous success.  Among the attendees were two of our State’s Fellows, Engineers, Architects, most of our Platinum Sponsors, and of course Landscape Architects.  Ten speakers/panelists provided a breadth of knowledge on topics from specification writing to historical preservation, providing five continuing education credits (CEUs).  The attendees were spoiled with an amazing venue, an excellent breakfast and lunch, and great fellowship throughout the event.

We look forward to our next one-day education event on May 2nd in Columbia.  Please mark this on your calendar and plan to attend.  See you there!”

– Chris Lambka, Upstate Regional Co-chair

USGBC Conference

September 9, 2016

Over time, watershed areas have changed as our communities and cities become more developed, resulting in damage and other severe  consequences whenever heavy rain events occur due to stormwater runoff.

Join USGBC South Carolina for our “Resiliency Sustainable Stormwater Practices for the Future” seminar, where we’ll review our current status and what’s being done.

We’ll also discuss how we can mitigate the impacts of stormwater, new design parameters, and explore hydrological dynamics from a watershed and soils perspective. Our presenters and panelists represent a cross section of professionals, municipalities, and universities.

The Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES) is a collaboration of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA), Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB), Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB), and Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF).

LA CES establishes, maintains, and enforces standards for evaluating professional development and continuing education programs for landscape architects. Continuing education has never been more important for professionals; it is needed to stay up to date in the profession, to develop new areas of expertise, and is mandated for maintaining licensure in many jurisdictions. LA CES guides professionals in identifying courses that are appropriate for landscape architects and are offered by legitimate organizations that have controls and processes in place to monitor quality and track attendance.

The mission of the LA CES program is to assure landscape architects and licensing boards that courses provided by LA CES approved providers are of sufficient quality. Only providers that have met LA CES requirements may register courses with LA CES. Registered courses cover a broad range of subject matter and providers are required to identify those courses that meet the LA CES standard of health, safety, and welfare subject matter.
